Month 1

Month 1 came and went way too fast! If this is how it's going to be we have a problem.  Time needs to slow down.  You are already growing up way too fast for us.

Your dad and I were so happy to get you home.  The first few nights we took turns sleeping to watche you sleep.  Yes, we were crazy, worried first time parents. We were scared to leave you for even a moment.  Then the doctor told us we were crazy and we started sleeping when you were sleeping. whew!  That made life easier.

We could cuddle with you all day and we did. It seems your favorite spot is right on our chest.  We are all very content :)

The nursery wasn't ready yet due to your early arrival so we had a make shift change station in the dining room.  It worked and you didn't seem to mind.

While now you love bath time (but prefer showers), you weren't too sure about the water when we gave you your first bath. You seemed to be trying to figure out if you liked it or not.

You passed your first doctors appt with flying colors.  He said you are gaining weight very quickly and are doing excellent! Woohoo! We were so happy to hear.  You also had your first public explosion at the doctor and mommy learned she had to be better prepared with supplies in the diaper bag!

Those long arms crack us up!

We know you smile because of gas but we will take them however we can get them.  I LOVE seeing that smile..Each one makes me melt.

We see that you have dimples like your mama! :)

You are so beautiful..our sweet baby girl..

I know you will probably be a daddy's girl but for now you are all about momma and momma is all about you :)  I really hope you never go through that teenage "I hate my mama phase"  I tell you everyday you better not.

You also make the most hilarious faces.. you make us laugh all the time and we could watch you all day..you are so expressive for month 1!

We had a few special visitors in month 1..

You are a fan of the swing..and so is mommy!  This wonderful invention allows me to get a few things done during the day.

You are NOT a fan of the crib just yet.  I dont blame you..you are still too tiny..

You prefer the coziness of the snuggapuppy and mommy and daddy's bed..

Molly was a little confused by your home arrival.  She kept looking at me like she was wondering when you were leaving or asking me what I had done? However, she has warmed up to you and never leaves our side.  She is always close by and she has even been caught cuddling with you..

Our first walk in the neighborhood!  You weren't amused.

Month 1 is over!  Cannot believe you are 1 month old baby girl.  We love you more and more everyday. We love watching you grow and getting to know your personality.

Things you love this month eating, sleeping, pooping, motion and cuddling.

Things you don't like are having your clothes or diaper changed, getting into your carseat, your multivitamin and your crib.

The Journey Home

Since you were a tad early you had to spend 6 days in the NICU to make sure you were ready to come home with us.  It was the longest 6 days of my life.  All I wanted to do was hold you close and take you home.  You were perfect and strong especially for your "gestational age" but you were a little jaundice which happens even in full term babies so they had to monitor your levels.  The NICU staff was wonderful and took such great care of all of us. I say all of us because mommy was very emotional! They were very supportive and helpful and made me feel very comfortable to let them take care of you.  I was blessed with a healthy, beautiful baby girl and I knew I was lucky that you only had a short stay there.

I was in awe of you.. I couldn't believe that you were in my belly.  Your daddy and I made you, you grew inside me and now your here! It blows my mind.  You are a perfect little miracle.

Your daddy is so in love with you.  He was still a little nervous because you are so small.  He takes such careful care of you and is so so protective already.

One of our favorite things you do is this..  when we change your diaper and you are naked you stretch your arms and legs out so far! It is so cute!

The volunteers at the hospital knit you a hat and a blanket because the regular newborn hats were to big for your tiny head.

One of the ways to treat the jaundice is light therapy.  I hated it because I couldn't hold you but I knew letting you do it would allow me to bring you home faster.  So I settled for holding your tiny hand..

You seemed to enjoy your sunbathing sessions.

I remember the morning I walked in and didnt see you in the isolette and lights I cried.  I was so happy to see you in this nursery crib because I knew it meant I was so close to bringing you home!

Aunt Colleen happened to be working in the NICU the week you were there.  We were very lucky to see a familiar face to tell us what was going on.  She also gave mommy some awesome swaddling and feeding tips!

You killed your car seat test!

We got the all clear from the doctor! It is time to go home! Aunt Laura got you the cutest going home outfit.

Daddy drove home so slow! He was so nervous to have you in the car.  We were so excited to bring you home. You did great in the car.  Here is our first out of the hospital family picture..

..let the adventure begin :)
